Remove Dark Circles Under Eyes…

…Using 10 Ancient Chinese Secrets You Probably Don’t Know About.

Remove Dark Circles Under Eyes Dark circles under the eye are unattractive, as well as physically uncomfortable.

They leave us feeling insecure and under-confident. Perhaps even worse, they lend an appearance of an unprofessional and ill-prepared disposition.

There are many reasons why having dark circles under one’s eyes can be disadvantageous; here are ten of the simplest, most environmentally friendly, and most affordable ways of reducing their impact, using remedies that work as-needed (as well as in the long term).

Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Rollers

A number of well-known cosmetic brands produce anti-puff eye rollers which are quick and easy to apply.

Some of these items cost less than $20 each, and impart the benefits of a traditional 10-20 minute remedy with a single application.

Garnier’s product is designed to avoid stickiness, allowing for the immediate application of concealer. For best results, follow all manufacturers’ directions for suggested use.

Burt’s Bees Sensitive Eye Creams

Several reputable brands produce a variety of all-natural products for cosmetic eye care. One of the most well-known of these is Burt’s Bees Sensitive Eye Cream.

Burt’s Bees uses aloe vera for softness, but also packs its cream with shea butter, olive oil and coconut oil; these contain natural moisturizers, which will help your skin to regulate its moisture content in a healthy and well-balanced fashion.

Cucumbers

An increasingly popular skin care remedy in the modern day, cucumbers have been used for cosmetic purposes for centuries.

Two fresh, cold cucumber slices can be laid upon the eyes for 10-15 minutes, once per day.

There is a bit of an art to applying the cucumber treatment to get the best effect.

Learn more on how Cucumbers can reduce dark eye circles naturally.

Cucumbers have vitamin C, caffeic acid, and other healthy and all-natural ingredients that make for a healthy, restorative and rejuvenating look, reducing irritated skin and swelling. Be sure to apply to clean skin, after removing makeup and other accessories.

Bananas

One of the reasons for puffy eyes can be laid directly at the feet of one of our favorite seasonings: salt.

A diet that’s heavy in sodium encourages fluid retention in soft tissues, including those found around the eyes.

Potassium is an excellent, all-natural way to reduce the resulting swelling: it bonds with the sodium, and helps the body to efficiently filter away stored deposits. Few foods are richer in potassium than bananas.

  • You can use a banana puree rub on the skin around your eyes, particularly underneath your eyes, paying particular attention to any visibly swollen skin.
  • Eat one banana per day, to increase overall potassium levels. If this is already a part of your everyday routine, consider the occasional second banana, perhaps as part of a healthy midday snack.

Raw Potatoes

Potatoes have natural ingredients, including astringents and a bleaching enzyme. These work to reduce excess fluid buildup in the skin, and to reduce discoloration resulting from puffiness and lack of sleep.

Potatoes are a good part of any healthy diet, but these benefits are best experienced by laying two fresh potato slices over the eyes. For best results, soak them in cool water first, and allow them to remain in place for 15-20 minutes.

A Deep Chill

Any frozen item, from a damp cloth to a bag of vegetables, is good for reducing swelling in the skin. Studies have shown that cold temperatures immediately reduce swelling in soft tissues, such as around the eyes and mouth.

  • The use of cold causes cells in your blood, skin and other bodily tissues to reduce in size, thereby reducing that “puffy” look around the eyes, particularly underneath.
  • Cold temperatures can also reduce the presence of fat cells. Employed sparingly, this will not only help to reduce apparent swelling, but it can also make recurring episodes less severe.

Make sure that the temperatures you use are tolerable; you will not experience any additional benefit from employing painfully cold objects. Be particularly wary of using metal objects, such as cold spoons.

Green Tea

Use Tea Bag for Dark Circles Under Eyes
Caffeine is a natural anti-inflammatory, and green tea contains additional healthy ingredients. These include a host of vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants, all of which are good for reducing the appearance of swelling and discoloration in the skin.

For best results, brew two tea bags, then allow them to chill in your refrigerator. Leave them in place for approximately 20 minutes for a deeply beneficial dose of nutrients, 2-3 times per week (or as needed).

Simple Revitalizing Eye Roll-On

Specially formulated for sensitive skin, Simple’s formula uses cucumber extract, glycerin and other, all-natural hydrators to help combat the appearance of puffy eyes through a single application, without further damaging your skin over time. This is a safe and all-natural formula; it can be safely applied to clean, dry skin on an as-needed basis.

Aveda Botanical Kinetics Energizing Eye Cream

Aveda was one of the first big players in the green beauty industry.

Their products are especially formulated for long-term sustainability, both in terms of their manufacture, and in how they affect your skin. This particular product takes advantage of the skin-lightening properties of licorice route, and the trademark anti-inflammatory properties of caffeine. It is smooth, greaseless, and quick and easy to apply.

Get Plenty of Rest

Humans need, on average, about 8 hours of sleep per night — but, at the end of the day, this is just an average.

Some people can get by on 6, while others might need up to 10 to feel at their best. If you aren’t sleeping enough, dark circles under the eyes will be one of the earliest warning signs of insufficient rest and recuperation.

  • Do your best to get adequate sleep at night. One continuous stretch is best for ensuring a complete sleep cycle, but most people can also handle dividing this in half.
  • The middle of the afternoon, or right after getting home from work, are both good times of the day for a power nap, as they correspond to the typical circadian rhythm.
  • Use reputable and proven methods to calculate your personal sleep cycle, for optimum efficiency.
